DANCEWAVE COMPANY I 2012 SCHEDULE

Dancewave Company (formerly Kids Company) is a dance troupe of teenagers, ages 12-18, selected by audition from all over New York City. This exceptional company provides a professional environment for young people that both challenges and encourages them to excel. The company works with internationally renowned American choreographers on groundbreaking work that expands the horizons of both the kids, and the modern dance world giving the kids an opportunity to understand and experience a diverse array of styles and artistic viewpoints.

Dancewave Company has performed works by Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, Trisha Brown, Mark Morris, Garth Fagan, David Dorfman, Doug Varone, Bill T. Jones, Donald Byrd, Meredith Monk, Susan Marshall, Donald McKayle, Carla Maxwell (Jose Limon based) and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar.

The company has been invited to perform at venues such as the Governor's Arts Awards, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New Museum, Bay Street Theatre, Joyce Theatre, PS 122, The Brooklyn Children's Museum, The Kitchen, DanceNOW Festival, City Park Foundation's Summerstage and on PBS.

The Dancewave Company represented the US by attending the world-renowned youth festival, Aberdeen International Youth Festival in Scotland, July 27-August 7, 2010.

The Dancewave Company rehearses twice weekly and receives ballet and modern training at the School at Dancewave.
