RIBBON-CUTTING- MAY 5th, 5-7pm

The New Dancewave Center Blossoms in Downtown Brooklyn!

On Monday May 5 from 5-7 pm
, the press and public are invited to celebrate the opening of a new Brooklyn cultural treasure. After a few opening remarks by Borough President and Ms. Jacobowitz, the public will have the opportunity to view ongoing dance videos of Dancewave programs in action, and enjoy refreshments and networking with the community.

Dancewave is delighted to announce the opening of the new Dancewave Center located at 45 Fourth Avenue on the corner of Dean Street, one block from the Atlantic Avenue subway. Classes have been in session since February 29th, and the official ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Borough President Marty Markowitz will take place on Monday, May 5 th from 5-7 pm .

“What a thrill for us to have a home that is ours; a place where we can plant the seeds of inspiration for Brooklyn's young people, their families, adults and seniors,” stated Diane Jacobowitz, Dancewave's Founder and Artistic/Executive Director.

This location greatly expands Dancewave's ability to meet the needs of different communities and to bring together its diverse populations under the common love of the arts. It also gives Dancewave greater visibility and presence in the downtown Brooklyn scene. Ms. Jacobowitz acknowledged that “Until now we have spread our classes and rehearsals over several rented venues in order to meet the demands of a growing Dancewave student body. It has been difficult for us to a build a brand name and identity without our own space. Our downtown Brooklyn location changes all that and we could not be more pleased about it.”

The new Dancewave Center is the realization of a lifetime of work. The organization's citywide reputation has grown from knowing Dancewave as a place where young artistry is cultivated--and now--where the community, and particularly the artistic community, can network and gather. “We want to hear the diverse voices of our neighborhood in our new home”, said Ms. Jacobowitz.
